Altered Tin Lid

Hello, dear readers!

Am back again with another altered item.  Can you guess what these are? :)

They're milk tin lids! I save them from my son's canned milk.  It's that part that's on top of the sealer thing you peel off when you first open the can, and then you take this one off and just use the plastic lid for the cover afterwards.  Have saved quite a numbef of these but i've placed them near the dish drainers and some parts have gotten a bit rusty.  I had to throw those ones out.  These new ones i've placed and stored some place where it's dry.

Here's the finished item:

I've turned it into our house number sign :)  We're renting this place and it doesn't have the numbers on the door or gate like the other ones do.  It's been quite a while (years!) that we've been "number-less," although our friendly postwoman have gotten used to it already.  Plus, i feel that our gate needs a bit of prettying up :) (what with our boys hanging on/climbing on/banging it - aaarrrghh!).

 Here're some close-ups:

Have covered the front with Prima papers and the back with cardstock, after taping the circumference of the tin. Then punched holes for the ribbon on top and for the hanging sign at the bottom.  Have die cut some Prima Jack&Jill papers for the birdcage (backed with cardstock), the lacey circle background and cardstock for the hanging sign with the house numbers.  Am so happy to use up some of my yummy Maple Treehouse flowers and a butterfly which i've been (cough, cough) hoarding (clear throat) for some time :)  That's a Prima vintage trinket in the middle and a bead on each side.  Have Stickled the cage and the butterfly, too.  Used my Crop-a-Dile for the first time on tin - Love eeeeeet! :)

Material list:  Cardstock, patterned papers (Prima Jack & Jill Celebrate line), blings (Doodlebug Designs), trinkets (Prima, MyBeadPoint), flowers & butterfly (Maple Treehouse), dies (Sizzix Tim Holtz Alterations - Caged Bird, Hanging Sign, Upon A Time; Spellbinders Nestabilities Lacey Circles), embossing folder (Sizzix), inks (Ranger TH Distress Ink, Perfect Pearls), Crop-A-Dile, eyelets, jump rings, ribbons.

Would love to know what you think.

Thanks for visiting!
