Papertrey April Blog Hop Challenge

Hello, blog hoppers!  Posting today for Papertrey Ink's April Blog Hop.

The photo below is this month's inspiration:

...and here's my card:

I've been inspired by the colors, the floral images and polka dots (represented by the rhinestones on my card).

Had actually been aiming for a one-layer card and the above image panel is what started as a draft/practice/test for me.  I was so surprised it turned out clean- looking and "error-free" haha!  So then i decided to use it and go tone-on-tone with the white card base.  If i had to do it again, though, i would have stamped the sentiment with a black ink.

Supply list:  Cardstock - AC; stamps - Papertrey Ink (Pretty Peonies, Beautiful Butterflies); inks - Papertrey Ink (Raspberry Fizz), Tim Holtz Distress Ink (Tumbled Glass), Memento (London Fog); bling - Doodlebug; adhesive - Kokuyo Dot Liner.

Thanks so much for stopping by!  I really appreciate it :)

Happy hopping!

Mother's Day Cards

Happy Sunday!

Would like to share some cards for Mother's Day.  They're all the same design but using different papers.

Have used Papertrey Ink's Quatrefoil die which i've gotten just recently.  Have used a mix of Sizzix and PTI dies for the layered flowers.  The pearls on the button centers of the flowers are colored with Copics to match the papers/inks on each card.

Sidenote:  Speaking of Copics - I've made a pleasant discovery recently: i was looking for a small T-square in the first art supplies store i visited in a building i DO not frequent.  Well, they only have the big T-squares, BUT --- they have Copics!!! i thought these were for sale in the USA only.  They offer a discount if one buys 3 or more :) so i got some colors to match the Papertrey inks i have.  T-square already forgotten -  LOL!

Ok, sorry for the sidetrack :)

Now on to the cards...

Supply list:  Cardstock - AC; patterned papers - Prima, Basic Grey; stamps - Maya Road, Papertrey Ink; dies - Sizzix, Papertrey Ink, Memory Box; buttons - Papertrey Ink; twine - AC; bling - ZVA, Prima; pearls - Studio 112, Paper Craft Museum; white pearls; Copic Sketch; adhesives - ZIG, Claudine Helmuth Studio matte, AC This to That, EK Success.

Thanks so much for dropping by!

Set of Birthday Cards

Hi, blogger folks!  Today am posting a birthday card set.  Based on one sketch (Mojo Monday 224), and with different papers used.  As you may notice, I stayed literally true to the sketch.  In retrospect, i could've placed some bling or more embellishments or lengthened the banner strip, but at the time i was happy enough to have been able to even manage creating these cards :)

Supply list:  Cardstock - AC; patterned papers - Lily Bee Handmade 6x6 Tiny Tablet; stamps, dies, inks - Papertrey Ink; adhesives - Helmar, AC This to That.

Have a great day!

For Scrapbook Stamper's Workshop - Ch01, Lesson01

Posting a layout today for the self-paced Scrapbook Stamper's Workshop over at TwoPeas.  It took me a while to get started on this Ch01 Lesson 01.  Yes, non-crafting life does get in the way of crafting :)  That's why i prefer self-paced classes.

The lesson was to heat-emboss a solid image on the layout.

Here's what i came up with:

Title:  You Make Me Smile

I scraplifted Lisa Day's PAGE  as i was drawn to the column of colorful stars.  I actually waited for my Papertrey goodies to arrive before i got started on this page, because i wanted to use the Super Stars stamp set and border dies (Love!).

This is my youngest son with star stickers on his cheeks, which he has put on by himself.  One of my favorite pics of him, really makes me smile.  Plus, it's one of the very few photos of him which is not blurred as he always moves faster than my camera shutter haha!

Here are close-ups of the embossed parts:

The popped-up layered star on the left of the photo is actually the result of an over-eager embossing mishap :)  I had been so excited to start embossing that i did not test first on a scrap of paper.  And i found that the image is clearer using VersaMark than when i use Distress Embossing Ink, but i may have to try again with that.

Have also layered the title to give emphasis to it.  It's a sentiment from PTI's Beautiful Butterflies (which arrived in the mail SUPER fast! Thanks, Carole!).

Supply list:  Papers - Studio Calico Brooklyn Flea and Snow Cone Kits; stamps - Papertrey Ink (Super Stars, Beautiful Butterflies, Label Basics); dies - Papertrey Ink (Super Stars Border Die, Star Prints, Angled Labels), Spellbinders (Small Pinking Circles); EK Success corner rounder; inks - Papertrey (Aqua Mist, Berry Sorbet, Dark Chocolate), VersaMark; AC Zing Embossing Powder (White, Rouge); adhesives - Helmar, AC This to That, EK Success).

Thank you for taking the time to visit!

Page for MWL's Scrap This and That Challenge #10

Hello, all!  Happy Easter!

Posting today again after a brief hiatus.

I think i may have been "scrapped out" for a while after doing one layout after another.  Sometimes that happens to me.  In the interim, i've been doing some simple cards.  It's what i do when i feel i lose some steam making pages - do a bit of small-scale projects.  Will be posting the cards soon, hopefully :)

Here's a page i made for our local scrapbook store, Made With Love's Scrap This and That Challenge #10. (i started this LO before my scrapped out period and just recently finished it.)  The challenge was to create a layout using only one brand/manufacturer.  Of course, the first brand i think of is my favorite: My Mind's Eye! :)

Title:  Silly Hats

This page is of my youngest son's long phase of putting stuff on his head and pretending these are hats! Really makes our day here at home :)  Have your kids ever gone through a funny/silly phase?  Would love to know what they are.

Sketch is from PageMaps January 2012.

Supply list:  Cardstock - AC; patterned papers, stamps, twine, buttons, alphabet stickers, die-cuts, bling, brads - My Mind's Eye; dies (Banner Builder, Tag Sale #3, Tiny Tags, Mat Stack 4, Happy Day) , ink - Papertrey Ink; Memento inks; pens - Uniball, Zig; adhesives - Helmar, AC This to That.

Thanks for dropping by!
