My inspiration came from THIS CARD by Erin Lincoln.

Another LO for Pages with Papertrey Challenge 8

Hello, everyone!  Hope your weekend has gone well.  Weather is ok here, bright and sunny one moment, then showers the next, then bright and sunny again, and so on :)

Posting today for my second layout for Leigh's Pages with Papertrey Challenge 8 - to use ribbons on the page.  I managed to put more ribbons on this layout than on my first :)  This page has long been due but i only recently finished it after weeks of leaving it alone, waiting for my journalling and the final touches.

The sketch is from Got Sketch 140.

Title:  Fun {pretend} Ride in the Jeepney

This page is about my boys and their cousins (on their Dad's side) in a (play) jeepney in the Manila Ocean Park.  In the Philippines, the jeepney is the most common mode of public transportation.  I started and finished my schooling riding jeepneys, and continued to do so through my working days. Should you happen to visit, you must try it at least once (but with utmost caution with your belongings, and only if you dare to be in cramped, squeezed-in spaces).  It might be hair-raising, though haha! For us who grew up there, it's a part of life.  For my boys who were born and are being raised here in Singapore (where there are no such transpo), riding the jeepney is a treat and an adventure everytime we visit Manila.

Thank you for taking time to visit!

Supply list:  Papers and embellishments from Studio Calico County Fair and Shooting Gallery kits; stamps (Labels Basics, Super Stars, Tag-Its #12, Tiny Tags), dies (Banner Builder, Super Stars border), ribbon, buttons - Papertrey Ink; EK Success scallop and square punch; Spellbinders Small Pinking Circles; ink - Memento; Zig pen; Ranger TH Distress Stickles.

Lawn Fawn Cards and Thankful Thursdays

Hi out there!

Posting some CAS Lawn Fawn cards today.  My first time to color images on a card.  Am not much of a coloring person, i don't know how to shade and such.  Hence, the images are just simply colored.

Am linking some cards for the first time to the following:
1)  Lawnscaping Challenge #33: Clean and Simple ,
2)  Thankful Thursdays #19 (i know it's not Thursday today, but i love the idea of thinking of thanking somebody during the week.  It grounds us. )

Used paper strips from the Bright Side.  i love this pad, the colors are really cheerful and bright.

Same image as the first card above, but stamped some background.

One-layer card.  i colored the band-aids in what i hope are cheerful colors.  Stamped them with Fresh Snow ink.  After coloring them, i used white gel pen on the dots and the smiling faces.

Another one-layer.  Attempted to do some shading on the middle rosette.  i need more practice! :)

Thank you for stopping by today!

Supply list:  Cardstock - AC, Bazzill; patterned papers - Lawn Fawn Bright Side petite paper pack; stamps - Lawn Fawn (Admit One, On The Mend), Papertrey Ink (Inside Out: Thank You); ink - PTI; Copic Sketch Markers; Washii tape - Made With Love; adhesives - Kokuyo Dot Liner, foam tape.

Thanks for visiting!

Happy Mother's Day! Hope you enjoy your day!

The sketch is from Got Sketch 141 (Card) and can be found *HERE.*

Have been attracted by the chevrons (my current favorite heehee!).  I couldn't stop at just one card, so i ended up making three of them :)

i hope the cards cheered you up a bit!

Thanks for stopping by.

"Pretty Peonies" Cards

Hello out there!

Posting today a couple of cards whose inspiration came from a bottle of bath wash :)

I couldn't find an image from their website, but it's Mark & Spencers China Blue Bath Wash :)  I had been inspired by the colors and how the flowers are arranged (yes, while i was  bathing haha!).

This first card has colors close to those on the bottle.

Did some experimenting with the misaligned stamping (smaller peony images) in different ink colors.  When i look at it, these images look, well, blurred LOL!  It takes my eyes back to focusing on the bigger peony images though.

Also had trouble placing the sentiment as i stamped the images first and the sentiment last.  Next time i'd do the sentiment first.

i think am going to try doing another card with these same colors, but minus the "blurry" images :)

Did this second card in Melon Berry ink.

How about you, do you find inspiration in the most unexpected places?  What's your strangest piece/place of inspiration? :)

Thanks for taking time to visit today! Hope you have a good day as well!

Supply list:  Cardstock - Bazzill, AC; stamps (Pretty Peonies, Mega Mixed Messages, Framed Out #1), inks (Blueberry Sky, Melon Berry, Classic Kraft) - Papertrey Ink; pearls - Paper Crafts Museum; adhesives - Kokuyo Dot Liner.

BPC NSD 2012 Creative Crop Challenge 2

Hello out there!
Posting today about a page i did for Challenge #2 during the Big Picture Classes National Scrapbooking Day 2012 Creative Crop (whew!).

The challenge, hosted by Ali Edwards, was to use a photo from years ago and another photo from this year and then to tell a story about them.

Here's my page:

Title:  Then & Now

Sketch used is from PageMaps June 2011.

The photos were from October 2008 (my baby had been just 3 months old then) and from January 2012.  How time flies! It seems like we were just carrying them in our arms, and now we can't keep them in our arms as they try to break free so they can jump and run around, without a care in the world.  Ah, childhood! :)

Due to the different timezones, i started doing this page at 3AM when everyone is asleep.  I had to stop, though, because apart from me getting sleepy, die cutting at 3AM makes a sound equivalent to an explosion! LOL!  i had to press the plates together as i roll them to keep the noise to a minimum, but  my old plates kept making the cracking sound.  So i just continued it the following morning.

Thank you for dropping by today!

Supply list: Papers and embellishments from Studio Calico Country Fair and Shooting Gallery kits; Lily Bee 6x6 Handmade;  stamps - Papertrey Ink; dies - PTI, My Favorite Things, Spellbinders; ink - PTI; adhesives - Helmar, foam tape; ZIG pen.

For Pages With Papertrey Challenge 8

Hello, everyone!

Today am posting a layout for Leigh's Pages With Papertrey Challenge #8, which is to use ribbon on the page.

Sketch is from PageMaps February 2011.

My initial plan of using ribbon on this layout differed from the end result.

Title:  We Are Young

Can you spot the ribbon? :)
That's what i meant by initial plan vs. end result. Haha! i intended to use lots of ribbon strips for the area under the photos, but ended up using ric racs instead. And there it is - the lone ribbon as flag on the top left circle :)

i used the rock and roll technique for stamping most of the butterflies.  Have colored the chipboard alphas with Copic too.  Have wrapped twine around the big butterfly to give it a "body."

i created this page to remember the fun meet-ups with friends i have during our short vacations in Manila.  We always try to have dinner or lunch together to catch up on whatever's happening in each of our lives.  Dinner or lunch times always, always, always are not enough to run out of stories! :)  These ladies, we have been classmates starting Kindergarten or Grade 1 or High School Freshman year.  All those years, we have been building a strong bond and i don't think we realized it then.  We have seen, if not shared, each other's ups and downs, our teenage crushes/heartthrobs, battle of our favorite bands (Spandau Ballet vs. Duran Duran -haha! shows my age!), and lots more things that seem to have been petty at the time but  are now fun memories to reminisce.  i even believe we have each other's birthdays etched in our brain!  And today, these ladies always make time in their (hectic, especially during Christmas time) schedules to host a gathering for us who've been away.  i always allot a day for meeting them whenever i go back home. I just love them and the times spent with them!  Am so grateful to have them as friends!  So, to my friends who might (a long shot, maybe) just be reading this - my BIG HUGS to you!

To my blog readers, do you still keep in touch with your childhood friends? Do you see them often?

Thanks for taking time to visit today.  Very much appreciated!

P.S.  I've another page created for this challenge, but the journalling on that is still yet to be started.  Will post it soon :)
